How to make money in the gig economy

Do you have a skill or technical background you think people would pay you for? Have you always wanted to make some fast easy money with a side job?

I often get asked how do you make side money or passive income. I wouldn't consider what I do as passive income yet, even though that is my end goal. I still have to put in time and energy to make money in the gig economy. I would say though that the barrier to entry is not hard.

What kind of skills do you need to be a gig worker or have a side job?

If you have an idea or skill set you think could solve a problem for a business or entrepreneur I would go for it, you never know who may need your help. Being creative and thinking outside the box, especially in a niche could turn from a side gig to a full blown job.

What Gig platforms do you use?

I currently use two different gig platforms to make money, Fiverr and UpWork.

I have been working with Fiverr off and on since 2014 and just in the past few months with UpWork.

Since starting with Fiverr six years ago I have made $76 net income.

What kind of work/gigs do you do on Fiverr?

I was an insurance agent for 7 years, so my gigs mainly revolve around that.

My two best selling gigs are 'Review your insurance documents' and 'Review your insurance policy'. My biggest customers are insurance adjusters and paralegals.

I have also gotten a few orders for my 'Create your social media influencer list' gig. My orders have come from entrepreneurs who are trying to find and market to a specific target market in their niche.

I also have two gigs where I can create social media posts for your business.

So my gigs are in my niche, which is insurance and the others are geared towards social media work.
